A SINGER is hoping to hit all the right notes with audiences this year after signing a recording contract.

Ashley Green, 20, known as Double A G, signed with Tate Music Group last week and is expecting to release his first single at the end of the month.

The former Swindon Academy pupil, who lives near the County Ground, said he could not believe it when the American record label said they wanted to take him on.

“I contacted them about two months ago and completely forgot about it,” he said.

“I was halfway through writing a song when I got an email from them. I was pretty shocked, it didn’t feel real.

“I want to keep my feet on the ground. I think no matter how far your music takes off it’s always good to remember where you have come from.”

Ashley, who has never had a singing lesson, has been songwriting for about a year and has worked with a producer who has also worked with the likes of Tinie Tempah and Chipmunk.

“I wasn’t really interested in music until I started songwriting and then I really got into it.

“You can express your feelings in a different way,” said Ashley.

“I am just songwriting all the time and I was originally writing for other people. One day I went to the studio and they suggested I have a go.

“I just write what I feel and what I have seen in my life. I try to write about my life and things I see and hear.

“My music is very versatile. I switch between hip-hop and R ‘n’ B.”

He will be recording the video for his first single, which he arranged before being signed, in London on Saturday.

Tate Music Group will be helping Ashley release his first album, called Lyrics From Pen to Paper, at the end of the year.

Ashley has 250 songs to choose from for his album.

His music will also appear in an 11-second television advert as part of the contract, Ashley, who is a rifleman in the Territorial Army and is due to finish his training in March will see how his music career takes off before deciding whether or not to serve in Afghanistan.

The video for his first song, called On Fire, will be filmed at Kings Lounge, in London at the weekend.

“It’s a club scene and it’s about a girl being really hot and like fire,” he said.

“Everybody knows it but her and all the guys are trying it on with her.”
