A DATABASE of lost pubs in Swindon shows the town is beating the blues with several having re-opened.

They include the former Fountain, which is now the Pig on The Hill, and the re-opened Globe Inn and Goddard’s Inn.

The page also includes a list of pubs which have closed or fallen by the wayside over the years.

They include the Artillery Arms in Regent Street, which was demolished to make way for Woolworths, the Bridges in Bridge Street and the Bulldog in Queen's Drive.

The website has been set up to ‘chart the decline of the British pub’ and says 50 pubs are closing per week.
