Corsham residents now have the chance to celebrate their unsung heroes, after nominations opened for the town’s community awards.

Five awards will be given out to notable people at the town council’s annual public meeting on April 18, to pay tribute to work done by volunteers in the community.

The categories are neighbourhood, sports, the arts and environment, plus one youth award for under-18s.

Nicola Chruszcz, the community and information officer for the town council, said: “Corsham Town Council would like to reward individuals or groups for their dedication to and enthusiasm for making Corsham a better place to live, work and visit.

“We would like to recognise and promote these committed individuals and groups within the community and celebrate their fantastic efforts.”

Nominees do not have to live in Corsham, but their contribution must, in some way, benefit the parish.

Nomination forms are available from the town hall or can be downloaded online at www.corsham.gov.uk.

The nomination process closes on March 8.
