The house on the corner of Old Farm Road and West Ashton Road, Trowbridge, damaged after being hit by a car on Friday
Two teenagers were arrested on Friday after a car smashed into a house on the outskirts of Trowbridge.
The boys, aged 13 and 14, apparently drove the car down West Ashton Road early on Friday evening before losing control of it in Old Farm Lane.
The red Peugeot 306 ploughed through a small hedge into the side of the living room of a house at around 6pm.
The owners of the house were inside at the time of the accident, but no one was hurt.
It is believed one of the teenagers was trying to turn the car around in the street after pulling in from the Trowbridge direction.
One neighbour said: “From what I heard there were two lads in a car coming round the corner, then they when into the side of the house.
“I saw the house the next day and you could see it had been badly damaged. When you looked at the wall side-on you could definitely see where it had bowed.
“It’s a good job they weren’t coming straight off the main road or they might have gone straight through the house.”
The youngsters, who are understood to live locally, fled after the crash. They were apparently identified by neighbours and arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and taken to Melksham police station. Two youths have been given police bail until January 21.
Neighbour Bridgit Hollister said: “It was a bit scary considering it was next door.
“We have spoken to the neighbours and they were cool about it, they don’t want to make a fuss.
“They say it’s only a house and it can be repaired. We’re just glad no one was injured.
“There have been problems in the past when people have to pull out around cars parked on the main road.
“It’s been an accident waiting to happen.”
Fire crews were called to the house at 6.10pm to assess structural damage, and remained until an engineer from Wiltshire Council’s arrived to declare it safe.

What - two little badgers driving a car into a house was an accident waiting to happen???
Are badgers short-sighted - or just too short to drive?
In my expert opinion badgers should be forced to use booster seats.

I expect the two little sweeties responsible have had bad past histories and were bored so that is ok, there will be some excuses i am sure. Kids are the parents responsibility still at this age so yes Donnyfly parenting comes into it, how many children and grandchildren do you have of your own and what ages?
Kids of 13 and 14 are still the responsibility of their parents, I agree, but that doesn't mean the parents are to blame for every indiscretion of their child. There are other reasons kids do wrong, not just because of bad parenting. Kids of good parents can cause trouble, and it's just as likely kids of bad parents don't get into any trouble at all.
