A school has shown MP Andrew Murrison how its new project is offering support and advice to pupils at 23 nearby schools.

The politician visited John of Gaunt last Fridayand was given a tour of the site, in Wingfield Road, by headteacher Andy Packer.

He looked at the school’s hub building, which is the base for the support work.

Mr Packer said: “It is really good to have our local MP come down and learn more about our innovations. It is also good to speak to Mr Murrison, using him as a sounding board for future ideas and I know he has many useful contacts which could help us.”

It was Mr Murrison’s first visit to John of Gaunt since the hub, which offers health and wellbeing advice, opened in 2010.

Mr Murrison said: “It is a pleasure to be able to visit this school and see how it is making a difference to the community.

“Trowbridge is certainly an innovative part of the county and the work carried out at the hub is very impressive.”
