The A303 south of Warminster is currently blocked with queuing traffic behind a broken down lorry.
Congestion is on the stretch of the road eastbound between the Chetcombe Road junction in Mere and the A350 turning in Kingston Deverill.
Motorists are advised to avoid the road, and only travel if absolutely necessary.
