Wiltshire Council is continuing to grit roads with sub-zero temperatures expected overnight.

Gritters will be on the region’s roads throughout the rest of the day and into the evening to ensure roads are as safe as they can be for motorists, who are still being advised to make only essential journeys in the forthcoming days.

A Wiltshire Council spokesperson said: “The temperatures over the next 24 hours are not expected to get above freezing and this will mean any roads with snow already on are likely to freeze over causing hazardous driving conditions.

“We are doing everything we can to make sure the roads are safe but we’d advise people to take care and consider whether their journeys are worthwhile.”

The council’s gritting teams are being assisted by local farmers who are helping to clear snow from the roads.
