Charity CD invitation

Cancer sufferer Martin Jones is appealing to musicians in Wiltshire to get involved with a charity album he is putting together.
Mr Jones, 56, from Box, was diagnosed with cancer of the pancreas three months ago, and the experience has inspired him to get back into the studio with his former bandmates.
He said: “I have played music on and off since I was a boy and in the last four years I have built my own recording studio at home, in my garage.
“I am now going to produce a CD to help my fellow cancer sufferers.”
Mr Jones wants local musicians to join him and his former band Nu Fusion in recording an album of brand new material.
He said: “Three months ago I was diagnosed with cancer, and I was very, very ill and spent time in hospital.
“Now I have had an operation and will have to undergo chemotherapy in the future.
“The idea came to me – I thought, I would like to do something to raise money for cancer charities.
“At first I wanted to do an album of mainly my own music and that of a couple of bands I belonged to and played with.
“Since then I have realised that many other musicians and artists would like to contribute too.
“The album will be called Going off the Rails (to get back on the Path), which is also the name of the title track I’ve written.
“It will be a compilation of all original music and no covers, by anyone who feels they would like to help in the continuing fight against cancer.”
The proceeds from the CD will be split between Cancer Research UK, Macmillan Cancer Support and the Forever Friends appeal at Bath RUH.
This is not Mr Jones’ first taste of musical fundraising.
“Three years ago, when I had a band, my wife was diagnosed with cancer.
“We decided to do something with other local bands and our local pub to put on a gig,” he said.
“We raised about £500 for Cancer Research. Thankfully she’s recovered now and it stopped there, but I wish I had kept the fundraising up.”
