A network connection fault has caused a power cut in Devizes leaving approximately 900 residents and scores of businesses without electricity.
The problem, which began at around 8.15am, affects central Devizes.
A spokesperson for Southern Electric said: “A fault in one of our network connection was reported at 8.15am this morning and engineers responded quickly and restored power for 300 customers by 9.15am.
“Our priority is to restore power for all of our customer as soon as possible and our engineers a busy fault finding to get this problem fixed.
“We apologise for any inconvenience and thank our customers for their patience while we fix this problem.”
Would-be customers queued outside Tesco in Maryport Street, while nearby Duck & Son newsagents said power came back on at about 10.45am.
