A PUNK rock band will take to the stage for the third year running to support the fight against cancer.

The Stand Up to Cancer gig takes place at The Furnace on February 9 and Post 12 will headline the fundraiser in a bid to raise the largest sum yet for the cause.

Band member Callum Starling set up the event after losing his grandfather and aunt to the disease.

Callum, 21, from Highworth, said: “We raised £540 last time round and are aiming for about £800 this year.

“The Facebook group has already reached 100 people, so the signs are good.

“We wanted to make a stand against cancer, not just through raising money but by putting some thought into it.

“We have had some tremendous support with local bands playing right through from 6pm to 11pm.”

The gig, in aid of Cancer Research, also features Full On, Tides Of Change, Day on Juno and Door to Door Salesman.

Tickets are £2.50 on the door.
