Year ten students at John Bentley gained an insight into the world of work at the school’s big interview day.

On Thursday last week the school enlisted the help of 30 professionals from across the south west to conduct mock interviews.

The list of potential employers included Rolls-Royce PLC, Thames Water, solicitor’s firm Awdry, Bailey & Douglas and Taylor Builders from Calne.

Students began preparing for the interviews last autumn by looking at the process required to secure a job. They learned how to write a CV, how to prepare an application letter and interview techniques.

The day itself was organised by work-related learning coordinator Wendy Graham and Will Ruscoe, head of year ten, who hoped to create as much of a real-life situation as possible.

Miss Graham said: “For the majority of our Year tens this is the first time they will have experienced such a focused, one to one situation and I am very pleased with the enthusiasm displayed by the year group.”
