Wiltshire Councillor John Thomson has been shortlisted for Age UK’s councillor achievement award.

He is on a shortlist of five councillors from around the country in the running for the award, which aims to recognise those councillors who make a real difference to older people in their communities.

Coun Thomson, who represents Sherston, is deputy leader of Wiltshire Council and its cabinet member for adult care.

Age UK hailed Coun Thomson for his work to improve commissioning in order to get better value for money. To achieve this he invited organisations and older people themselves to identify the most essential care support services and how to provide them effectively.
