Young players have fun staging Aladdin at St Margaret's Preparatory School, Calne
Wishes came true for children as their magical performance of the pantomime Aladdin delighted audiences on two evenings. Every pupil from Years 3 and 4 at St Margaret’s Preparatory School at Calne took part in the show which involved song, dance and slapstick humour. A collection at the end of the performances raised more than £500 for the school’s chosen charity, Swindon Young Carers.
Teacher Sarah Beach, who was part of the production team, said: “All 70 children did tremendously well. “They worked very hard in the weeks leading up to the performances and it really paid off. It was important for all the children to feel involved and it was great to see some of the shy ones blossoming.”
Children from Year 4 took the lead roles with Max as Aladdin, Beatrice as Widow Twanky and James as the Genie. Parents worked hard to create Turkish costumes and staff pulled together to create the set. The children performed the pantomime to packed houses.
Mrs Beach said: “The audience seemed to love it and joined in the fun.”
