It was all white on the night for a Bradford on Avon boutique after being named best bridal retailer of the year.

Carina Baverstock Couture, in Silver Street, have won the Wedding Industry Award after only being in business for two years.

Business partners Carina Baverstock and Lucy Hayward-Rodgers collected their plaque at an award ceremony in Bloomsbury Square last month.

Mrs Hayward-Rodgers, of Bath, said: We were up against a lot of competitors and were absolutely delighted when our name was called out.

“It’s an honour and a privilege and we are now the proud owners of this beautiful glass plaque.

“Reaching the top is a massive achievement and shows our business is succeeding. We have taken on more staff and opened up our second store, for luxurious occasion wear, across the street.”

They were judged on the content of their application, photographs and testimonials from their brides.

“We were commended on our high level of service and expertise. We have 20 years of bridal experience between us and are very skilled bridal stylists.

“Brides can be nervous and apprehensive so we create a calming atmosphere. It is the most important dress they will ever wear.

“When a bride walks out on her wedding day it is an advertisement to us. They are an individual so we don’t want them to look like any other bride. We have a diverse collection of designers and encourage them to step out of their comfort zones to look the best they can be.

Ms Baverstock, of Holt, said: “Brides put their trust in us and this accolade will give us an advantage. We offer a luxurious environment. When it rains we offer slippers for people to wander around in and hand wipes to keep the dresses clean.

“Programmes like Downton Abbey and Mr Selfridge and Kate Middleton’s wedding dress are influencing women and bringing long sleeves and lace back into fashion.

“Women now want to look elegant, demure and romantic on their wedding day and can we provide this.”
