A 22-year-man has died in a car crash near Liddington.
The incident happened at 23.17pm last night.
The man, who was with four other men all in their early 20s, was driving a black Renault Clio along the B4192. They were travelling towards towards Swindon from the Aldbourne direction.
The driver, who was from Swindon, and a rear passenger were trapped in the vehicle and had to be freed. Breceived serious injures and were taken to Great Western Hospital by ambulance.
A short time later the driver died from his injuries.
The seriously injured passenger was later taken to Frenchay Hospital, in Bristol. The other occupants of the car managed to get out and other suffered relatively minor injuries.
Friends of the occupants were also travelling on the road at the same time in a silver Vauxhall Vectra.
The 27-year-old driver of this vehicle was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, but has been released on police bail without charge.
Officers would like to speak to anyone who was travelling on the road at this time and may have seen either of the vehicles.
