A pop-up dinner dance, at Urchfont Village Hall on Saturday, has raised more than £2,000 for Diabetes UK.

The event, the brainchild of villagers Jenny Holt and Sandra Johnston, was sold out well before the night.

As well as a four-course Italian meal, there was dancing to music from blues combo the Teddy White Band.

Much of the food and drink had been donated by local people and firms. Plank’s Farm Shop cooked the main course of chicken cacciatore.

Local firms also donated a range of raffle prizes.

Relatives and friends of the organisers waited on tables and served behind the bar.

Mrs Holt and husband Simon had already raised £1,000 with pop-up dinners at their High Street home.

She said: “I want to thank everyone who helped; in the way of sponsorship and prizes, setting up and working on the night and, of course, clearing away.”
