The founder of Bradford on Avon Choral Society will perform a concert that documents his life, to raise money for his local church.

Kelvin Thomas, 93, from Bath, was musical director for the choir for eight years. He will present My Life of Music at Bathampton Methodist Church next Friday, at 7pm.

The concert’s extensive programme will include music and poetry from Mr Thomas’s life, from a young boy to today, with various recordings of his voice throughout his career.

Mr Thomas, an MBE, said: “I am delighted I am able to help with the much-needed fundraising for Bathampton Methodist Church.

“It is as close to my heart as music and I do hope as many people as possible will come along to listen”.

The Welshman was a boy soprano from the age of five and founded Bath Silver Ring Choir in 1950, with his mother, and conducted with it until 1990.
