IT WASN’T just hearts that were all a flutter at the Adver’s annual wedding fayre this weekend.

Barn owl Breeze stole the show and had couples cooing over her as she was on her best behaviour during the four-hour fayre at the Hilton Hotel, in West Swindon, yesterday.

The event, now in its fourth year, saw more than 300 people through the door looking for the perfect dress, cake, stylist or suit to top off their big day.

There were 18 stalls to browse, including Sarah Belle Bridal, formerly Gowns of Distinction, which supplied the dresses for the fashion show, Beauty By Rita and Herbalife. But one of the biggest attractions was Breeze, of Faringdon-based Bird 4 All Occasions, who is available for hire as a ringbearer.

Lisa Townsend, who runs the firm, said: “This is the first year we’ve been to the Adver fayre and Breeze went down very well. “It was a good day and we had quite a few people asking so we are glad we came.

“She is very used to being around people as we train to a certain standard. We run a pest control business but we thought what can we do with our other birds and so we do school fetes, weddings and events like that.”

Dancers from Tanwood Performing Arts and also Adver advertising representatives modelled bridal and prom gowns on the catwalk and Sarah Belle Bridal owner Sarah Courtney-Green said she enjoyed seeing the dresses on people.

She said: “It’s always nice to see them off the rail and come to life and I thought the girls did really well. “This is the fourth year we’ve been involved with the Adver’s event and we had lots of interest.

“People have said 2013 was going to be a quiet and superstitious year, but lots of people seem to be going for it or even saving up for 2014.”

Swee Ong, conference and events sales manager at the Hilton, said: “I think we definitely got the right mix of stalls – we had some more unusual things and also the fashion and dance shows which were popular.

“It was a very good turnout and I think we had around 300 people. The hotel itself had about 40 enquiries about weddings here which is great.”

Adver representative Hayley Luszcz said: “Everybody seemed to have a great time and the shows went really well. We had a good variety of stalls this year.”
