The Caffè Nero chain has today won its planning appeal to continue trading in Marlborough.

Caffè Nero moved into the High Street premises on March 24 last year and began trading on April 30 without change of use planning permission.

Wiltshire councillors later turned down Caffè Nero Holdings’ change of use application despite being advised by planning officers to accept it, leaving the company to appeal against the decision.

The appeal opened in January, the chain continuing to trade in the meantime, and today planning inspector Phil Grainger announced his decision that the company can continue to operate as a cafe.
