Fundraisers took part in an eight hour non-stop zumba and circuit challenge on Saturday to raise money for African charity Gamset.
The challenge at St Laurence School started at 8am with circuits, followed by zumba at 9am and alternated between the two until 4pm.
More than 35 adults and children attended the event, with many completing the challenge, and more than £1,000 has been raised with more sponsorship to come.
Honor Sturley, 50, from West Kington, set up the charity Gamset, which supports education and training for young Gambian people, following recent visits to The Gambia and seeing first hand the plight of many of its young people.
She said: “Although it was a gruelling day, everyone was in good spirits and I left the day feeling on top of the world.”
Mrs Sturley sponsored Gambian student Dodou Manneh through academic years 12 and 13 and his first year at the Gambian Technical Training Institute.
This has enabled him to study English as a second language and Business English at Bath College and he, along with Mrs Sturley, completed the whole eight hours of exercise on Saturday.
Gamset has already been able to supply The Gambian Technical Training Institute with 16 computers, monitors, keyboards and associated equipment such as headsets.
Mrs Sturley is urging local businesses to donate their old equipment to the charity. To contact her, email honor@gameset.co.uk
