Two school friends have held a charity cake sale inspired by their grandfathers, who are battling cancer.
A selection of treats including lemon cupcakes, chocolate cakes and buns were on offer at the hall of the Mead School’s Wingfield site, in Church Lane.
The event was organised by pupils Siana Goodwin and Esther Frawley, both 11, and the money they raised last Friday is being sent to Clic Sargent and Cancer Research UK.
Siana said: “Our grandads both have cancer, so we decided to hold the cake sale to support the charities and we’ve also made stickers to sell.”
Esther said: “Lots of grown-ups have brought cakes in for us and we’ve made some ourselves.”
Pupils and their families came to the after-school event.
Teacher Rob Cunningham said: “The cake sale was all their own idea. We gave them a few pointers, but they’ve both done incredibly and we are so proud of them both.”
