Bradford on Avon affected by power cut

A thousand Southern Electric customers in Bradford on Avon were affected by power cuts today at 11.45am, the energy company confirmed.

Electricity has now been restored to all but 42 customers in the Turleigh area and Southern Electric engineers are still on site trying to get the electricity running in the remaining homes.

A spokesman for Southern Electric said: “We can confirm that we had a fault reported on our high voltage network this morning at 11.45am, which affected 1,000 customers in Bradford on Avon.

“We still have 42 customers in the Turleigh area who are without power, but our engineers are still on site at the moment trying to fix the problem.

“The engineers had to use the common procedure of re-routing the network to sort out the problem, which has the potential of causing lights to flicker in nearby areas like Trowbridge.

“Southern Electric apologises to customers who have been affected by the problems and we would like to thank those who are still without power for their patience.”
