A new nature trail interpretation board is to be unveiled by Calne mayor Roy Golding.
The board, to be revealed on Saturday at 11am by Doctor’s Pond, has been funded by the Friends of Abberd Brook, the Calne Lions and Wiltshire Council.
It depicts illustrations of wildlife found along the brook produced by local artist David Sawyer A guided walk along the brook will be given by representatives of Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and at 11.30pm visitors are invited to an exhibition showing David Sawyer’s photographs of the brook at Calne Free Church.
Francis Bosworth, group chairman for The Friends of Abberd Brook, said he hoped the new board would encourage people to explore.
He said: “I think there has been an increase in the footfall and people have noticed a difference in the brook since we were formed in 2010.”
The Friends of Abberd Brook are also holding a curry supper at Coleman’s Farm Community Centre on Saturday, April 13, at 7pm.
The minimum donation for tickets is £5 and spaces are filling up so people are asked to book in advance.
The Friends of Abberd Brook have also set up a page at local giving.com and for the month of March the website has agreed to match-fund any donations given.
To donate, visit www.local giving.com/charity/friends-of-abberd-brook or to book a place for the curry supper call (01249) 824722.
