A JOB fair enabling businesses and individuals to learn about the opportunities surrounding apprenticeships was held at the Brunel Centre.

The fair yesterday was part of National Apprenticeship Week, and many businesses that support those looking for work were on hand to offer information and advice.

Among the businesses with stalls were US-based Arbonne, which focuses on selling cosmetics and developing effective network marketing, recruitment company Select, Job Centre, Total Swindon, Plan 500 and the Adver.

Both Swindon College and New College, which offer a large variety of opportunities to train and provide valuable work-based experience, also had displays.

Marie Sneddon, the apprenticeship manager at Swindon College, said: “It’s been fantastic.

“I’ve spoken to 40 people this morning and it’s only 11.30am.”

The job fair also provided an opportunity for people starting their own business to talk to other local entrepreneurs.
