Canal boats suffer spate of break-ins in Bradford on Avon

Police are stepping up patrols and warning canal boat owners to take additional measures to secure their property after a series of thefts this week.
Items from two boats in Bradford on Avon were stolen overnight on Monday.
Between 8am and 6pm the same day there was also a theft from a canal boat in Trowbridge.
Property stolen included an Apple iPad, Apple iPod Classic and Apple Mac laptop, a Sony MP3 player, a 22 carat gold ring with a pink topaz stone, an 18 carat gold ring with a red stone in the middle, a Trek 7000 mountain bike, a Canon camera and Garmin sat nav.
Police are giving the list of stolen goods to businesses, to make them aware should anyone try to sell the items.
They have also contacted the Waterways Authority, which will be giving canal boat owners advice.
There will also be police patrols along the towpaths both day and night. If anyone sees suspicious activity, or has any information, they can call police on 101.
l Another Trek 7000 men’s bike was stolen from a canal boat at the lock in Semington on Tuesday, after the door of the boat was broken.
