SOARING through Swindon’s skies next month on a mixture of monster trucks, motorbikes and BMXs will be a team of adrenaline junkies aiming to blow fans’ minds.
Extreme Events Europe (EEE) is set to entertain crowds during a petrol-fuelled night at Lydiard Park on September 5.
The show will feature drift cars, an FMX stunt team who pull off mid-air acrobatics, and BMX performers pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved on two wheels.
The outdoor show is the brainchild of Ian Batey, who watched similar shows in the US on a holiday 35 years ago and decided to bring the entertainment back to England.
“It’s not a job for us, it’s a way of life,” said Mr Batey, EEE’s managing director and former monster truck driver.
“It’s an awesome feeling, especially when you first start and you are unsure about the way the truck will land– on its side or on its front.
“It’s nerve-racking but when you land it’s an excellent feeling.”
Two years ago Mr Batey entered the Guinness World Records for his monster truck driving skills, when he crushed 61,106 cans in three minutes driving a 10-ton truck for for an energy drinks company based in Dubai.
“At the end of each performance we always sign autographs and people in the audience are always amazed with what they have just seen,” said Mr Batey.
“There’s nothing like when you are watching these large vehicles flying through the air.”
The show consists of a team of 12 stuntmen who will take to their bikes to wheel-spin and perform 360 degree turns in the air, and there will also be a man set alight before he walks through the park.
“He has a gallon of petrol splashed over him.
“It’s an amazing sight when you see this guy walking on fire,” said Mr Batey.
“People in the audience can feel the heat – they say he must be roasting.”
Each year EEE’s fan base has been growing, with followers all over the world including Sweden, Germany, Norway, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, France and the UK.
Mr Batey added: “Our experience brings together stunt professionals and qualified backroom personnel to guarantee a safe and well organised event.”
