Melksham Town send best wishes to former manager after car crash
Best wishes have been sent to former Melksham Town manager Wayne Thorne as he recovers from a car crash which left him in a coma.
The 33-year-old former player-manager also had stints at Corsham and Chippenham, but left the Conigre in 2010 and is currently managing Larkhill Athletic FC in Bath.
He was involved in a head-on car crash days after the new season started, and spent a week in an induced coma after suffering a ruptured artery and 16 crushed ribs.
Club chairman Dave Wiltshire said: “Wayne is still very well regarded by all here. We were all deeply sorry when we heard, and our club secretary has sent his family a card.
"We just wish him a speedy recovery. I hear he is on the road to recovery now, but it’s going to be a long road for him from here.”
Mr Thorne was roused from his coma by his wife Mandy earlier this week, when she told him of his side’s 2-1 victory away to Bridport in Dorset.
