Wedding winners ready for the big day
PLANNING a wedding is a big job – cakes, dresses, colour schemes, bands and flowers all have to be carefully chosen, but for last year’s winners of the Adver’s wedding competition, everything is now ready.
Clare Hollocks and Lee McGlone will marry in front of 83 guests on Saturday at the Marriott Hotel.
Clare said her final dress fitting had taken place, the little bows on the favours have been tied and everything is set for the best day of her life.
“All the plans have been going really well,” she said.
“I’m just really excited. I think the nerves will kick in first thing on Saturday morning but at the moment I’m just really excited.”
Her dress is being kept at Lee’s mum’s house to make sure he does not steal a glimpse of the outfit before the wedding.
Along with her five bridesmaids, she plans to have a girly night in the hotel’s sauna and spa the night before the big day.
To calm her nerves she has already had a back massage this week and her nails have been painted.
“I had to work on Monday and Tuesday so it’s really nice to be off and just getting ready for Saturday,” said Clare, who is a manager at Primark.
Lee will be arriving at the hotel on a very large digger which he is borrowing from work.
“He will be travelling across Swindon on a big digger with bows tied around it,” said Clare.
Lee’s ushers will not be able to fit in the vehicle with him, so they plan to tail the digger in cars behind him.
Most of the guests will be arriving on Friday night and staying at the Marriott along with Clare.
The couple brought thousands of copies of the Adver to make sure they were the winner’s of the Adver’s Win A Wedding competition last year – beating off 90 other hopefuls.
“It really is the wedding of my dreams,” said Clare, of Northern Road. “It’s fantastic - a big white wedding.”
The couple met when Lee was a doorman at a club in the town centre while Clare was on a night out.
- This year’s Win Your Wedding couples have until midnight on Saturday to enter the competition, when all entrants will appear in the Adver and members of the public will have a chance to win the exclusive wedding package.
