Dream wedding arrives for joyous Advertiser winners
THERE were tears of joy, lots of dancing and even a ride on a digger at the dream wedding of the Adver’s bride and groom of the year this weekend.
The newlyweds, Clare and Lee McGlone, said tying the knot at the Marriott hotel on Saturday was the best day of their lives.
And now they cannot wait to set sail on their honeymoon – a cruise around the Caribbean and a four-day stay in Florida.
Clare (nee Hollocks) wore a flowery corset style white gown from Hazelwood Bridal Boutique, with a tiara and her hair half up and half down.
“It’s been absolutely amazing,” she said. “There were a few tears when my dad first came in to my room this morning looking all smart. And I had a few wobbles during the service but it’s been lovely.
“It’s been so nice having all my friends and family together.”
She walked down the aisle with her five bridesmaids, all dressed in a long navy ball dresses with their curled hair to one side, to Christina Perri’s A Thousand Years.
Once the ceremony had finished, Clare and her bridesmaids, who held bouquets of white roses, were lifted up in the mouth of a digger, which Lee borrowed from work to arrive at the event in. The digger was decorated with pink and blue balloons.
“Clare looks stunning,” said Lee.
“It’s been really good fun. I’m really excited about having some time away now and relaxing.”
For their first dance they moved to Marvin Gaye’s Let’s Get it On Proud dad, David Hollocks, of Swansea, said it had been a great day. Clare is the last of his children to marry.
“She’s the baby of the family,” said David. “She looks marvellous.”
One of the bridesmaids, Jess Bolch, 22, of Swansea, said she had the best day. “I’m so proud of my friend,” said Jess.
“She has picked the best dress – she looks amazing. It’s been the best moment of my life.”
The couple beat nearly 90 others, winning more than a third of the 35,000 votes, to win the Adver’s sought-after £10,000 prize last October, which included a wedding at the Marriott Hotel and a £1,000 wedding dress.
The couple met when Lee was a doorman at a club in the town centre. Clare, who was on a night out, said it was love at first sight This year’s top 10 couples in our Win Your Wedding competition will find out who has won a £10,000 wedding at the Marriott Wedding Fayre on Saturday.
