Bradford on Avon gift firm eyes public backing
Wiltshire gift business From You to Me Limited is in the running to be crowned the national Local Business Accelerators winner for 2013.
The winner of the UK-wide competition, organised by the Newspaper Society, will be unveiled at a ceremony in London next month.
The 15 finalists, including Bradford on Avon business From You To Me, were shortlisted after thousands of high-growth start-up businesses across the UK entered local LBA competitions organised by hundreds of newspaper titles, including the Wiltshire Times, and sister papers Gazette & Herald and Swindon Advertiser.
The Newsquest Wiltshire competition was won by From You To Me, which sells journals that capture and share life stories for every occasion and relationship, and the company also has the chance to win a People’s Choice award, in an online public vote.
In the lead-up to the grand final on October 15 members of the public and business community are being invited to vote online for their favourite finalist. The winner of the People’s Choice will be announced at the LBA Grand Final, before the naming of the overall winner.
The winner will receive a package of prizes, including £10,000 from the Business Growth Fund and a year’s mentoring from Deborah Meaden.
Managing director Neil Coxon, 49, said: “Starting up all those years ago, you never know what is going to work.”
Marketing manager Kerry Littlefield said: “Social media has gone slightly mad, and we have had lots more interest and lots of hits on our website. It’s a great boost for us as a team. We really try and keep our suppliers local, in Bradford on Avon and the surrounding areas of Wiltshire and Bath.
“Sales-wise we are doing brilliantly, we are increasing our sales really well each year, but this would be a real pat on the back for us.
“We are flying the flag for Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire and the South West.”
