Warming up Trowbridge for the main event
Trowbridge prepared for their annual carnival by holding a country fair in the town’s park on Saturday.
The event – organised by Trowbridge Carnival Committee – attracted around 1,200 people and featured musical performances and family games.
Maryrose Mantle, committee chairman, said: “It all went very well and we were delighted that the weather held out.
“I thought we had some fantastic performances from Infinity Dance, West Wilts Esprit Gym and Marlborough singer Serena Dundas.”
The park was covered in stalls selling items which included jams, pickles, cards, cakes, sweets and toys.
Mrs Mantle believes the event has got Trowbridge in the mood for the town’s annual carnival, which takes place on October 19.
She said: “On Saturday we had lots of people coming and telling us just how much they are looking forward to the carnival. We have entry forms available for anyone who still wants to enter a float or walk in the procession.
“We would also be delighted to hear from anyone who wants to volunteer to help out on the night.”
The carnival begins in Canal Road at 7pm, with the floats following a route around the town. For details, call 07866 698278 or email trowbridgecarnival@hotmail. co.uk l A green toy tractor was found during the fayre. Call Maryrose Mantle on 07866 698278 if you are the owner.
