Bradford on Avon residents are disappointed a plaque highlighting the Olympic achievements of Ed McKeever has been hidden at the back of his golden post box.
The post box, in The Shambles, was painted gold by the Royal Mail in August 2012, to honour the former St Laurence pupil’s victory in K1 200m kayak event during the Olympic Games.
In recent weeks Royal Mail has put a plaque on the back of the box, but it isn’t visible as it is against a wall.
Jacqueline Mehrez, 43, who runs Neston Flowers, in Church Street, said: “It is a little bizarre they’ve put it on the back and we’d all like to see it on the front as it would highlight Ed’s achievement and tell visitors to the town why the box is gold.
“It is something we are very proud of and don’t want tucked away.”
Royal Mail sent a maintenance team to Bradford on Avon yesterday to see if the plaque could be put in a more prominent place.
