Extensions at Equestria

A PLANNING application has been submitted to convert a field barn into tourist accommodation.
The barn at Equestria Farm, Berhills Lane, Sells Green, dates back to the late 18th or early 19th century and was used as both an animal shelter, cart store and hay loft but it became derelict.
It was repaired in 2012 and the building is now used as an occasional sheep shelter during winter.
Peter Newsom has applied to Wiltshire Council to convert it to provide visitor accommodation.
In the planning application, he said: “The conversion to the existing barn for visitor accommodation is low key and provides a beneficial use of a rural building. The alterations and extensions would be in keeping with the rural area and, as such, will have minimal impact on either local amenities or the qualities of the local landscape.
“The proposals, therefore, meet the requirements of both local and national planning policies.”
