The stars come out for Wyvern Theatre
STAR names and top shows are in the line-up for the new season of entertainment at the Wyvern Theatre.
From plays to musicals and comedians to the pantomime, the Swindon theatre venue is set to entertain thousands of people over the next few months.
Theatre director Derek Aldridge said: “The winter-spring season promises Swindon theatregoers a true variety of quality productions to inspire and entertain.”
Among the offerings is the record-breaking thriller The Mousetrap, which will run at the theatre as part of its 60th anniversary tour.
Also on show will be a new one-woman musical, Some Girl I Used to Know, starring former Strictly Come Dancing star Denise Van Outen.
“I am extremely excited to be touring the UK with my new show and look forward to sharing it with the people of Swindon,” said Denise, who has co-written the romantic comedy with Terry Ronald.
Other shows scheduled include the dance troupe, Balletboyz, Blood Brothers, Girls’ Night Out musical Hot Flush; and an adaptation of JM Barrie’s magical story Peter Pan On Ice.
Derek said: “I am particularly looking forward to seeing the iconic play The Mousetrap on the Wyvern stage and to hearing the whodunnit theories of our audiences.
“The very best comedians will be here along with ballet, opera, live music and, of course the best family panto in the west – Jack And The Beanstalk.”
Accompanying the Wyvern’s performances are a series of events in The Place, the Wyvern’s restaurant, directly above the café-bar and foyer.
Whovians are invited to the The Doctor’s After Party on November 23 following the BBC’s 50th anniversary programme while the Flaming Feathers return this Christmas with their sultry sound and burlesque routines.
The new season brochure also unveils a full programme of free events and activities for the theatre’s Family Fun Day on Saturday, November 2.
