Trowbridge pupils booked to sing with Matt

X Factor winner Matt Cardle will perform with pupils from Trowbridge’s John of Gaunt School next year at a Wembley Arena concert to raise awareness of children around the world who need adopting.
A choir of 50 children from the school, in Wing-field Road, will join hundreds of others for the Voice in a Million concert on March 12.
The event, now in its fifth year, is organised by Robert and Jo Garofalo, with the aim of highlighting the need for people to put themselves forward to adopt and foster.
As well as performances from Mr Cardle, there will be talks about the adoption process and the support available.
Iain McIntyre, John of Gaunt School’s head of music, said: “It will be amazing for them to sing with Matt, as part of a big choir. We’ve taken part in some of these concerts previously and it is a great occasion for our students.
“The idea of them playing at Wembley is absolutely brilliant and being part of our school choir helps the children bond and learn how to work with others.”
This is the third year John of Gaunt has applied to take part in Voice in a Million and an audience of about 10,000 is expected.
Mr McIntyre and Nicola Moore will accompany the pupils on the day, when they will all get T-shirts supporting the campaign.
Headteacher Andy Pac-ker said: “It is a very big opportunity for the children. The choir is something which anyone can join and increases the sense of community in the school.” For ticket information, call 01784 240859.
