Support saves burgled nursery school’s Halloween party
A HALLOWEEN party at a Trowbridge nursery – which was burgled last month – went ahead on Wednesday thanks to generous donations.
Around £600 of funds from Green Shoots Nursery, in Studley Green, were taken when thieves broke into manager Heather Wood’s office. Half the funds were earmarked for their Halloween and Christmas parties with both being put in jeopardy.
After seeing the story in the Wiltshire Times, parents have been donating funds and Wells company Party Packs gave the nursery £100 worth of Halloween decorations which meant the children’s spooky party could go ahead.
Kate Turner, Party Packs owner, said: “It is a very sad thing to have happened and we always try to help whenever we come across cases like this.”
The majority of the funds being collected from parents have been put towards the nursery’s Christmas party, with other local companies also expressing an interest in helping the children’s centre.
Manager Heather Wood said: “The support we have had from parents and the wider community has been fantastic and we’d like to thank everyone who has been there for us.”
Parents have previously helped raise funds for children’s play areas at the centre, including a builder’s yard and a mud kitchen.
Wiltshire Police are still investigating the incident which saw thieves get into the office, at the rear of the nursery, by removing a window pane in the early hours of Friday, October 4.
Any witnesses can call Wiltshire Police on 101 and those wishing to donate to Green Shoots Nursery’s parties can call 01225 751744.
