FOOTIE fan Sally Foster has raised £1,300 in sponsorship for offering her shaved head as advertising space.

The 42-year-old from Highworth went under the scissors on Saturday to raise money for the Swindon Town Football in the Community Trust (STFCT).

The mum-of-three then used a transfer to advertise her head-space for hairdressers Karoliina Saunders Hair Designs, who won the bidding between local businesses.

She will wear the transfer of the company name for a week following Karoliina Saunders Hair Designs’ £150 pledge.

Sally said: “When it was all coming off I thought ‘what am I doing’, and it’s a bit colder now.

“There have been a lot of people staring at me because of course no one knows why you’re bald and then they see the transfer on the back of my head.

“I’ve been telling everyone who asks what it’s all about. People have been calling me baldy and everything.”

Sally has been overwhelmed by the response from people and businesses in Highworth, and has already smashed her £1,000 target.

She said: “I am a bit overwhelmed, everyone has been so generous and supportive.

“I set my heart on the £1,000 and so to beat it is just a bonus really.

“I just want to say a big thank you to everyone who got involved and supported me, and hopefully it will bring some more business to Karoliina Saunders Hair Designs too.”

A shocked Sally is finally shorn by Karoliina Saunders

Sally decided to shave her head for the trust after 14-year-old daughter Baeley was accepted to take part in an international football tournament next year.

Baeley is one of four girls from Highworth who train with the trust Girls Centre For Excellence and who are taking part in the Gothia Cup in Gothenburg, Sweden next year.

Because the trust funds these youngsters to go to Sweden and take part Sally wanted to do something to give a little back.

Sally said: “The trust gives schools money to help train the girls and because it is so expensive and they have helped so much I wanted to do some fundraising to help with the costs of sending the kids out there.

“Six years ago I did a head shave for Children In Need. I thought I’d do another one for the trust, and that’s where it started.

“Then I had a marvellous idea. There are a lot of local businesses in Highworth and people I have talked to have already been so fabulous, so I tried to think of how I could also help them.

“And that’s when I had the idea that people could advertise on my bald head.

“It’s all about supporting local business and people in the community really and getting it out there about girls’ football too.”
