Tears turn to joy for Devizes scooter boy

Devizes youngster Morgan Denbury is whizzing about with a smile on his face again after receiving a new scooter to replace the one stolen from his garden in November.

Morgan, six, was given a new scooter for his birthday at the end of October, but it was stolen from the garden of his home in Estcourt Crescent three weeks later.

Now he has a brand new scooter thanks to business partners Gary Woodland and Ryan Bendle, who set up the Krazy Scooters shop in Gastons Road, Chippenham, about a year ago.

Mr Woodland met Morgan at Devizes skate park RampNation to hand over the scooter and also brought along 11-year-old Louis Rumens, of Melksham, a sponsored rider for the business.

He used to be a youth worker in Bristol and is keen to encourage youngsters like Morgan to continue scootering in order to build up recognition of the sport.

Mr Woodland said: “He loved it. He was given the scooter because his old one was stolen, but we also gave him a code scooter lock and a new T-shirt.

“To keep scootering as a sport alive, it’s the younger ones that need the encouragement. It’s still, I feel, a growing sport and the more we can do at grass root levels the better.

“I’ve been a youth worker for 17 years and the business is not all about making money. We just need to encourage people to take the sport up so it stays around.”

Scootering is Morgan’s main hobby and he practices at RampNation every Saturday and Sunday afternoon when the under eight sessions are held. Since receiving his new scooter he has tackled a 6ft ramp for the first time.

Morgan’s mum, Elizabeth Denbury, said: “He’s more than pleased. He gave Gary, the person who came from Krazy Scooters, a big cuddle. The gentleman got it setup there and then so he gave it a little whizz round in the evening on Saturday.

“I moved here a year ago and I think the community here is amazing, I think it’s a lovely place to live. Yes we’ve had a scooter stolen, but someone has come forward and given us a brand new scooter. It has put my faith back in people.

“It’s a happy ending and he’s a very happy little boy.”

I'm sure, if the free advertising was big enough and ran for long enough that Aston Martin would inded give you a free car.
That's how it seems to work.

Tis the season of Good Will to all men including Sir Roy and the retired Old Bloke!
Krazy scooters are an independent shop in Chippenham that promote exercise through scooting. They also have a scooter team who support other projects throughout Wiltshire and beyond. RampNation Indoor Skatepark is a family run business in Devizes, again encouraging exercise but also providing a safe and sociable place for young people. Both of them also bring business into their towns from customers travelling from further afield. So congratulations to Krazy Scooters and to RampNation for doing their bit to keep our towns vibrant and alive!!!!!

Merry Christmas!
