Three fire engines were called to Corsham High Street in the early hours this morning, after a fire broke out in a hair salon.
Two crews from Corsham Fire Station were joined by a third from Chippenham at the Hair Company salon, after a fire was reported at 4.55am. It was promptly extinguished, and the scene was cleared by 12.20pm.
The exact cause of the fire remains unknown, but it has taken out the electricity supply to several neighbouring shops, with Southern and Scottish Electricity Board working to restore power.
Corsham Town Councillor Michael Simpkins was at the scene. He said: “People were saying it was an electrical appliance, which set off an alarm at 5am this morning. Thankfully everyone got out ok, and there have been no injuries.”
Fire investigation officers are working to determine the cause of the blaze.
