WILTSHIRE Police are appealing for witnesses after an assault in the town centre.

The incident took place at about 5.55pm on Tuesday at the Fleming Way bus stops on the Tri-Centre side of the road.

A 14-year-old girl was attacked by a group believed to be four teenage girls as she waited to catch a bus. The victim had visited McDonald’s and had made her way with a friend to Fleming Way to catch the bus home.

Shortly after her friend departed, the attackers, who are known to her, carried out the unprovoked assault.

The four girls are all aged between 15 and 17 and appear to have followed the victim through the underpass near Debenhams, and shortly afterwards were seen running back through the Parade.

Their victim suffered a tear to her ear and her face was left badly swollen after she was repeatedly kicked in the head as she lay on the ground.

She was taken to the Great Western Hospital and released after treatment for her injuries.

She has been left shaken and shocked by the attack.

Three females have been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and remain in custody.

Local crime investigator Michelle Giles would like to hear from anyone who was in Fleming Way and saw the attack or anybody with information.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Wiltshire Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where information can be left anonymously.
