A TRIP down memory lane is a Christmas Wish come true for Edna and Mick Bradshaw.

The couple, who are celebrating their diamond wedding anniversary in March, were nominated by their daughter to go on a chauffeur-driven trip to London to see the places where they grew up.

For our Christmas Wish appeal 2013, we asked you to tell us about people who deserved a festive treat.

Edna and Mick’s daughter, Sandra Hollands, nominated them because they didn’t celebrate their golden anniversary in March 2004 because their son, Keith, passed away earlier that month.

Sandra, 53, of Covingham, said: “They never had their golden wedding anniversary. They didn’t want any fuss because it was only 26 days after Keith died.

“Now it is their diamond anniversary so I think they deserve a treat. They often talk about London and I think they will really enjoy it.

“They love pie and mash too, I order it for them online but it’s not the same when you’re not in London.”

Edna and Mick, who were also presented with champagne and flowers, will be chauffer driven to London in a Mercedes in January by Dangerfields in Old Town.

The couple will see the places where they grew up, and will also stop off for pie and mash with money the Adver has provided as part of the Christmas Wish.

They plan to visit St Alban’s Church in Fulham where they got married on March 27, 1954.

They will see their old home in Fulham, as well as Chelsea, where Mick lived as a young boy, and Shepherd’s Bush.

The couple, who have known each other since they were young, have lived in Swindon since Mick got a job as a milkman in Swindon in 1962.

He later worked for Premix Concrete in Swindon.

Mick, 80, of Covingham, said: “It will be lovely to mark our anniversary. We haven’t been back to London for a long time.”

Edna added: “We want to have a mooch about and see the markets in Shepherd’s Bush. We are looking forward to pie and mash – my husband is pie and mash mad.”

Judy Young, director of Dangerfields, said:” It is lovely to be part of the Christmas Wish. It is what Christmas is all about. Edna and Mick are in for a special day.”
