Community helps kids to enjoy Christmas at burgled Trowbridge nursery
Generous donations ensured a Christmas party at a Trowbridge nursery, which was burgled in October, could go ahead.
About £600 from Green Shoots Nursery, in Studley Green, was taken when thieves broke into manager Heather Wood’s office on October 4.
The loss put Christmas and Hallo-ween parties in jeopardy. But, thanks to donations from parents, local residents and companies, both took place.
After the Christmas celebration was held at Studley Green Primary School on Saturday, Mrs Wood said: “We were so devastated when the break-in happened, but the support we’ve received has been fantastic. The community really pulled together to help us.”
In total, £1,380 was raised, including £725.30 from parents of nursery pupils.
More than 60 children enjoyed games and visits from Peppa Pig and clowns. Father Christmas made a special journey to give every child a gift.
Mrs Wood said: “What happened to us was horrible, but it makes us realise how many good people there are.”
