A new generation of writers in Melksham was given a boost when two schools linked up for a festive stories session.

Year 7 and 8 students from Melksham Oak Community School spent the day with Year 2 children at Bowerhill Primary School last Thursday, writing them personalised Christmas tales.

James Coomber, the Key Stage One leader at Bowerhill, said: “The younger children really rose to the challenge of working with the older children and the older ones really enjoyed going back and writing in the younger style.

“The Melksham Oak students chatted to the children about their families and their interests, then they went away and wrote a personal story for each of them. One was called William Saves Christmas.”
