RESIDENTS in Lydiard Tregoze and Royal Wootton Bassett are being invited to have their say on plans for a new Tesco supermarket, homes and other community facilities at Marsh Farm.

The proposals include landscaped, public open spaces and play areas for children. Part of the site is being ring-fenced for community facilities and residents are being asked what they would like it to be used for. All ideas will be considered before a planning application is submitted to Wiltshire Council in the spring.

Tesco’s corporate affairs manager Beth Greenhouse said: “We are looking forward to meeting local people and talking about what matters to them during our consultation, which will last a few months.”

The proposals for Marsh Farm include a community supermarket slightly bigger than Sainsbury’s in Royal Wootton Bassett, around 300 new homes including affordable homes, homes for older people, a community hub and play areas for children.

Lydiard Tregoze Parish Council chairman Peter Willis said: “We have listened to what is being proposed and are taking our time to consider the plans and what they mean for our community.”

Details of the public consultation will be advertised in the New Year.
