Children at Westbury Infants School have been busy helping charities in the run-up to Christmas.
Head Caroline Ball said: “The community helps us help others. Year 2 have been learning about the work of The Children's Society, who support disadvantaged children all over the UK.
They made Christingles and raised money for the charities Safe at Christmas appeal supporting runaway children. Each child took home a tube of Smarties and then volunteered to do jobs at home to earn money to fill their tube.
“The charity supplied the candles and ribbon for making Christingles, the local business One Stop gave an orange for each child and Tesco gave a Smarties tube for each child. The children raised £186.20 for The Children’s Society. Thanks to all who made this possible.”
