New Year's Day was extra special for Devizes couple Ben Begue and his wife Dieu Diem Le Thi as their first baby arrived at 9.36am.
Baby William Thien Le Begue was born exactly a week early at Chippenham Maternity Unit weighing 7lbs 5ozs.
Dieu, 31, who is originally from Vietnam, started having contractions on New Year’s Eve and the couple went to the maternity unit at 1am on New Year’s Day.
They went back to Devizes at 3.30am when the labour was not progressing but returned just after 5am when the contractions became stronger and William arrived at 9.36am.
Frenchman Mr Begue, 35, said: “It’s quite special having our baby born on New Year’s Day, it’s a date to remember.
"My dad was born on January 2 and an aunt was born on January 1.”
The couple, who live in Jubilee Road, met online and were married in 2009 in Vietnam.
Mr Begue is operations manager at Herman Miller in Chippenham while his wife is a waitress at Zumi restaurant in Devizes.
