Angus Macpherson, Police and Crime Commissioner for Wiltshire and Swindon, is to visit a drop-in centre in Chippenham for homeless and vulnerable adults.

fMr Macpherson will attend a drop-in session on Thursday, January 9, at Doorway in Chippenham to speak to staff and guests.

Doorway received £9,000 in the July 2013 round of the Commissioner’s Innovation Fund towards the drop-in sessions.

The sessions provide a friendly, safe place for adults who are homeless or who have complex issues that might affect their ability to acquire and sustain a tenancy.

The sessions offer practical and immediate support for basic needs as well as help on where people can go to for specialist assistance.

Representatives from various agencies, including the police, attend. The sessions offer an inclusive and supportive service for vulnerable people in a safe environment.

Doorway currently operates two drop-in sessions each week from the Salvation Army Hall, Foghamshire, Chippenham, on Monday mornings and Thursday afternoons.
