Over a month’s worth of rain has already fallen in Wiltshire this week, according to Steeple Ashton-based amateur weatherman Geoff Witts.
Mr Witts, who has measured the temperature and rainfall levels at his home every day for over 30 years, and keeps records dating back to 1951, said he was shocked by the recent downpour.
“So far this month we’ve had 82mm of rain, but the average for the whole of January is 72mm”, he said.
“It’s been completely horrendous, I had to go to Bath for work on Tuesday (7th), and I couldn’t believe how much rain we had.
“The wettest day so far was Friday, when there was 24.5mm.
“It’s going to cause a lot of problems if it continues like this.”
