AVON and Somerset Police have released CCTV images of two men, possibly from Swindon, who they would like to speak to in connection with a rape investigation in Bristol.

A 24-year-old woman contacted police on Friday to report that she had been raped by a man in the early hours of Sunday, December 15.

Det Insp Mike Buck, of the Operation Bluestone team, said: "The victim had been out with friends during the evening of Saturday 14 December in the Clifton Triangle area of the city.

"She became separated from her friends and went to get a takeaway, where she began speaking to a group of men.

"The victim began walking home and a man walked with her. He then subjected her to a serious sexual assault in St Michael's Park in Clifton and close to Alfred Place in Kingsdown, sometime between 4am and 5am.

"This is a very nasty incident and understandably the victim is extremely distressed and we are doing all we can to support her.

"We are releasing images of two men we would like to speak to as we believe they both spoke to the victim in the Clifton Triangle area and may have information which could be crucial to our investigation. It is possible the two men could be from the Swindon area.

"I would also like to speak to anyone who believes they may have seen or heard something in St Michael's Park or close to Alfred Place, but maybe did not think it suspicious at the time.

"Incidents like this are not commonplace and we have a team of detectives working on the case carrying out a number of enquiries.

"If anyone has any concerns, I would urge them to speak to their local neighbourhood policing team."
