A monthly community market, selling everything from toys and cakes to arts and crafts, kicks off this Saturday at the new hub at Malmesbury Town Hall.

The Old School Room, which has been made available for community use by the town council, will feature 20 stalls promoting arts, crafts and food.

The first market is this Saturday from 10am until 2pm, with set up from 9am. Town councillor Julie Exton said: “There is going to be a nice mixture this weekend.

“We will have some baby clothes and toys and there will be some local arts and crafts. I have been surprised about January; I was really sceptical as to whether I should run it in January as no one has any money or wants to do anything, but I thought if I didn’t do it than it’s going to lapse.”

Stall holders will be charged £5 and tables will be provided, although only one space remains for this weekend.

There will also be markets on February 8 and March 15.
